People need to realize ANYONE can scam.
Think about this scenario
You just bought a 360. A week later you get robbed of it.
But it breaks down about a month later and the robber can't play it anymore. So the robber calls MS customer service and gets a brand new and/or refurbished WORKING 360 free of charge. So now, this lowlife got a free 360 off YOUR money and you're stuck with no game system at all.
Tell me, would you still think sony was cheap for wanting a receipt then?

If this was given to him as a gift, then that also eliminates ANY form of currency being traced back to him
No money orders/checks, no credit/debit cards, no nothing. There is NO way to show whether or not it was an actual gift or him stealing a ps3 that just happened to break
Had his system been purchased from a retail store, all he had to do was take it back to them. Even without a receipt they'd have the ps3 sku on record as sold and the person it was sold to. So ...
But Circuit city has customers on record as most retail stores do. So it isn't as big an issue.
This guy in the article is demanding a replacement DIRECTLY from sony over the phone. So the sale record isn't there like the way it would be with a circuit city or best buy store.

True, the warranty had not expired on this guy's ps3 and it was a gift.
But the bottomline is that without a receipt, who is to say the person didn't steal the ps3 from someone?
If the system is broken and they replace it by warranty WITHOUT a receipt, they can potentially giving a free system to a thief.
Especially when fighting online. When you went up with someone helghast rifle vs Isa rifle, instead of going shot for shot, all you had to do was get in close quarters battle and blast that shotgun bullet from the helghast rifle.

The thing is, if Sony can close the gap you with these "few decent" games that MS claims, then what happens when everything does come?
The gap was six million by the end of 2007. MS themselves came out and said the lead is now five million. So within the four month period (Jan, Feb, March, April) Sony closed the gap by one million.

Sales/Dollars don't make dvd9 disc capacities any larger or hard drives magically appear into every 360 console. My point was is that even if they try to make it about the money, If it can't be done, then it can't be done. Plain and simple

Houser already said the 360 might not be able to get the next 360 due to the lack of hard drives in most of the skus and the lack of space on dvd9. The man specifically said the 360 has to do something about their storage if they want the next Gta game
Even if EA buys out take 2 and wants to go multi platform like they always do, it's possible the game simply CAN'T be made multi platform.

As things stand now, reasons I'd get another 360 are ninja gaiden 2 and Gears of war.
I DID has this game before but now since it looks like it will be on ps3 it's down to just Ninja Gaiden 2 and Gears of war 2
